In now the fourth year of producing some classic beers, brewed to precision, East Brother Brewing Company has announced that it has expanded via Flood Distribution to the key market of the state of Texas. The brewery is known for its portfolio of products including core classics and occasionally small batch seasonal brews for limited release. The brand is now available in bars, bottle shops, grocery stores and restaurants in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
Their distribution to Texas closely follows the brand’s expansion into the state of Pennsylvania which is the birthplace of classic American brewing and lagers. The rapidly expanding and independent craft brewery was co-founded by Rob Lightner Chris Coomber in 2016, and their standout products include a Red Lager, Oatmeal Stout, Red IPA, Gold IPA and a Bohemian Pilsner which won a silver medal at the 33rd edition of the Great American Beer Festival and a gold medal at the 2019 California Craft Brewer’s Cup.
In 2018 and the middle of its recent expansion with its core range of beers, East Brother Beer Company launched a seasonal lager series to join its product portfolio. These beers were smaller in their production and were a suitable part of the business for it to experiment with its innovation and creativity in brewing. This experimentation included collaborating with local malt suppliers and hops growers to revive recipes that are centuries old, for example, East Brother’s Pre-Prohibition Lager. They also produce their seasonal Freighter Series which includes big and bold ales, and a Russian Imperial Stout.
According to Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine’s 2020 readers’ poll, the demand for craft beer in the United States is growing. Lager is way up there in the ranks of the most popular along with New England IPAs showing themselves as beer styles with staying power, able to beat seasonable and cyclical trends within the beer industry. In Texas, the production of craft beer is more than a mere trend too, its more of a time-honoured tradition witnessed since the introduction of lagers in the 19th century by German and Czech immigrants to the state who brought with them the thirst and the craft for the beer they loved to make.
