Scottish Pubs: Guest Beer Supply Opportunity

Organisation: Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA)
Location: Scotland, UK
Commercial Reach: Scottish Tied Pubs
Opportunity Status: Brewery Registration Open
Opportunity Type: Guest Beer Listings, Pub Supply & Distribution

Opportunity Overview

Independent breweries across the UK can register their beers for consideration by Scottish tied pub tenants through the Guest Beer Agreement scheme.

Introduced under the Scottish Pubs Code, the scheme allows eligible pub tenants to sell at least one guest beer of their choice, creating additional routes to market for smaller breweries.

The programme covers cask, keg, bottled and canned beers, allowing participating pubs to introduce new products from independent producers.

SIBA operates a dedicated online portal where breweries can register eligible beer brands for Scottish pub tenants to discover.

Potential Business Opportunities

The scheme could create opportunities for breweries looking to:

  • Supply beers to tied pubs across Scotland
  • Secure new guest beer listings
  • Expand cask and keg distribution
  • Introduce new and seasonal beer brands
  • Build relationships with independent pub tenants
  • Increase wholesale sales
  • Enter the Scottish on-trade market

How to Get Involved

Breweries can register through SIBA’s Guest Beer Agreement portal and submit eligible beer brands for consideration.

Qualifying brands must have annual production of no more than 5,000 hectolitres. The scheme is open to breweries throughout the UK, not just those based in Scotland.

Basic brewery and beer-brand listings are available free of charge, with enhanced listing options also available.

Once registered, eligible beers can be discovered by Scottish pub tenants seeking guest beers for their premises.
