In 1990, George founded the Flying Dog Brewpub in Aspen, Colorado. From that brewpub to a full-fledged Denver brewery (co-founded by George and his long-time friend and partner, Richard McIntyre**) in 1994, and then to their current state-of-the-art brewing facility in Frederick, Maryland, Flying Dog continues to make sense.

When Nikki and Neil met, they came to realise they had some big dreams, Neil wanted to open a Brewery and Nikki wanted to figure out a way to help give back to her community of Upland that she has been a part of for 16 years. They put their heads together and came up with a plan to combine both their passions. After many sleepless nights of figuring out a name and mission that would represent both their passions, they came up with RESCUE BREWING COMPANY. The word Rescue for them represents all the FIRST RESPONDERS that run toward an event rather than away and put their lives on the line for a stranger or animal and they deserve to be recognised.

They brew a wide variety of styles ranging from traditional German styles to innovative modern IPAs, to barrel-aged creations. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible and pride themselves on having a beer for every palate. Alewife Brewing Company founders Keir Hamilton & Patrick Donagher are proud to introduce the NYC craft beer community to their own brand of impeccable liquids. Keir and Patrick share a vision to produce the finest, top-notch brews and both possess a crazy passion for detail and quality. These two long-time contributors to the beer industry in NYC now unite as one to present mother ALEWIFE!

Established in 2015 and located in Williamsville, NY, 12 Gates Brewing Company is an independent, craft-production brewery that produces high quality, handcrafted beers in a 30-barrel brewhouse. The brewery also features a taproom with 18 rotating taps, light fare, outdoor seating, and live music. Wine and hard cider are available, too.

If you’ve read the beer trade press in recent weeks, you might have the sense that May was not a great month for the craft category. And, if your frame is scan data and your only comparison is 2020, you’d be right. That said, this is a reminder that 2020 was not a normal year, and so reporting scan data versus 2020 may not, in fact, really provide that much context for the beer category or sub-categories within the beer category.

The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) has just released the Beer Purchasers’ Index (BPI) for May 2021. The data shows a significant difference to the BPI in May 2020 which illustrated the serious impact of COVID-19 on the beer industry.
