Family-owned Bale Breaker Brewing Company, situated in the beautiful Yakima Valley in Washington has announced the release of the upcoming Bubba’s Brew IPA. Bubba’s Brew is a favourite among fans, brewed every year for the annual fundraising event for Bale Breaker – Ales For ALS. Despite the event being on a break, the brewery has gone ahead with canning this beer for the second year in a row to raise awareness and as much money as possible for the fundraiser.
The fundraiser was started by the brewery’s family hop farm called Loftus Ranches and is now established as a national campaign to raise both funds and awareness to ALS research. So far, their charitable efforts have amounted close to $3.5 million for the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS-TDI). Every year Loftus Ranches, and Yakima Chief Hops donate a unique blend of exciting hops to breweries across the US with the only request in return being a donation to ALS-TDI of at least a dollar per pint brewed from these hops.
Bubba’s Brew is Bale Breaker’s own fundraising beer for ALS. This year’s edition of the beer boasts an impressive 7% ABV and 55 IBU. The beer was named after co-owner Meghann Smith Quinn and Kevin Smith’s uncle, the late Scott “Bubba” Hanses. Bubba’s Brew is certainly a beer close to their hearts:

If you were lucky to know Bubba, or have met him in the taproom, or even enjoyed a nice cold Bubba’s Brew a time or two, please join us as we celebrate his life by raising a glass to him. Bubba will be sorely missed but his legacy will continue to carry us through these tough times. Cheers to Bubba!”
In honour of Bubba, the brewery is donating a dollar from every can and pint poured to ALS-TDI. Bubba’s Brew is going to be released this Friday, July 16, in the Yakima Valley Taproom of Bale Breaker. Come along from 12-9pm and get yourself a pint on draft or a 16oz 4-pack to go. The beer will also be available on their online store for shipping across Washington state. Customers can pre-order a case online from July 9. Bubba’s Brew will be distributed through mid-July across Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Customers can find it in a local store by using Bale Breaker’s online feed finder.
Ales for ALS month runs throughout July at the brewery, so every Friday in July, $1 from every pint poured goes to ALS-TDI. Bale Breaker is also running a fundraising raffle to win a brew day at the brewery itself. Simply donate here for your chance to win.
